The development of impactlean originally began in August 2005 as a funded research project through the Center for High Performance Manufacturing (CHPM) at Virginia Tech. At the time, several of the member companies of CHPM were in the midst of implementing lean initiatives and thus were interested in obtaining a utility that would enable them to more effectively complete Value Stream Mapping. As a result, the research team consisting of Dr. Kevin Creehan- Director of CHPM, Dr. Eileen Van Aken- Associate Department Head of the Grado Department Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, and James Glenn- President of DynaSoft, LLC set out to create a utility that would revolutionize how value stream mapping and lean process analysis is conducted. Impactlean still maintains close ties to CHPM and the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. This means impactlean continues to have access to faculty members and cutting edge research in the area of process improvement. As a result, expect even greater things out of impactlean in the future! |
